Toy Care

Taking care of your favorite silicone toys

The toys we make are made of medical grade silicone, ensuring excellent quality and duration. However, silicone has its own weaknesses!

First, the silicone can be damaged by sharp things, such as knives of teeth; as well as abrasive surfaces. Damaging the toys this way can create tears that may lead to ripping parts. Also, bacteria can infiltrate in and develop, making them difficult to eliminate.

Secondly, the silicone is highly incompatible with silicone-based lubes. Do never is this kind of lube when using our toys. Also, take care not to store them next to silicone-based lube, as both should never be in contact.

Thirdly, not all the toys on the market use the same type of silicone as our. It is important to know that different kind of silicones, or similar material, can interact between them in case of prolongated contact. This can lead to “melting” parts of the toys, permanently damaging them.

Storage

The recommended way to store toys is to individually wrap them in order to isolate them from contact with other toys. This way, you ensure the toy is not in contact with unwanted material, such as different type of silicone or silicone-based lube. To wrap them, you can use dedicated bags, towel, tee-shirts; you can be creative!

Also, ensure your toys are not stored under heavy things, the long term compression could deform them. It’d be a shame if your Felroth got bent in the long run!

On a final advice, we recommend using boxes, one per brand. This way, you avoid silicone incompatibility, and adding a lid prevents from having your toys squished under heavy things, and getting splashed with liquids.

Cleaning

Clean toys are essential to prevent from bacterial contamination. Despite we clean each toy after their demolding, we recommend you to clean your new toy before using it. To do so, use soap and warm water -simple.

After having used your toy, it’s important to clean it thoroughly to avoid bacteria development and the possible remaining of foreign material. The easy way is to use soap and warm water but other techniques exist. For example, you can use isopropyl alcohol, but be sure to properly rince with water to remove chemical. The silicone being heat resistant, you can put it in your dishwasher, or into boiling water for 5 to 10 minutes. Ultimately, you can put the toy in a 10% bleach-water solution for an hour. Take care when manipulating bleach, don’t forget to scrub the toy with a sponge to remove solid material and finish by a water rinsing.

When cleaned, dry the toy before storing it, using a towel of letting it in open air. We are not responsible if your mother asks what is the sculpture drying in the bathroom!
